Athena Louisa Georgoulias

Winston-Salem- Athena Louisa Georgoulias, 46, fell asleep in the Lord, Monday, October 23, 2024 at Kate B, Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born December 16, 1977 in Forsyth County, the daughter of George and Kiki Makris Georgoulias. She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and enjoyed spending time with her family. Athena was a gift to all that knew her. She was a beautiful soul that inspired people to love, respect, and be the best version of themselves. Her soul is now free from the bonds of her earthly limitations. She is preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her mother, Kiki Georgoulias; her brother, Chris Georgoulias (Sheryl); her nephews, Anthony, and Caleb Georgoulias, and her niece, Katie Georgoulias.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 28, 2024
at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Demetri Kangelaris officiating.
Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
The family requests please no home visits.

  Nicholas Thomas Mathes  March 1, 1934 - June 14, 2024 It is with sadness, but with hope in the Resurrection, that we inform you that our beloved brother in Christ, Nicholas Thomas Mathes "Nick", 90, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully in his home on June 14 surrounded by his family's love. Nick was born March 1, 1934 in Klapsi, Greece  to Thomas Nicholas  & Fotini Hamberis Mathes.  His early years were spent in his beloved village of Klapsi, where he expressed his adventurous and mischievous spirit accompanied by his equally mischievous friends, many of whom he remained close to until the end. During the Greek Civil War, Nick was separated from his family fleeing a siege in Karpenisi.  His family frantically searched for him, fearing he'd been captured by the Communist Party.  Fortunately, Nick had fallen into the Greek Nationalist Camp & was safely returned to his family after 3 terrifying days.
