Methodius JM Kariuki, the Director of the Saint Barnabas Orphanage and Education Center. He is also the Chairman of the Kenyan Orthodox Africa Board, facilitates mission projects under the Orthodox Africa initiative, and serves as the Kenyan representative to the Orthodox Africa American Board of Directors. Falling Asleep of Athena Louisa Georgoulias

  Athena Louisa Georgoulias Winston-Salem- Athena Louisa Georgoulias, 46, fell asleep in the Lord, Monday, October 23, 2024 at Kate B, Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born December 16, 1977 in Forsyth County, the daughter of George and Kiki Makris Georgoulias. She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and enjoyed spending time with her family. Athena was a gift to all that knew her. She was a beautiful soul that inspired people to love, respect, and be the best version of themselves. Her soul is now free from the bonds of her earthly limitations. She is preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her mother, Kiki Georgoulias; her brother, Chris Georgoulias (Sheryl); her nephews, Anthony, and Caleb Georgoulias, and her niece, Katie Georgoulias. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 28, 2024 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Demetri Kangelaris officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.   Weekly Bulletin for October 13, 2024 View our upcoming services & events  here  which can  also be viewed in the Breezeway!  With respect to Hurricane Relief efforts, t his Sunday, we are collecting gently used coats & warm attire for the Hurricane Helene Victims in the Western Carolina area. After Service this Sunday, a member of our parish will then take them to the Drop off location.  We will send another announcement if there will be another collection in the future.  Our neighbors in Western Carolina are in dire need and are very thankful for your donations! May God bless and protect everyone! 

National Philoptochos Delivers Hope: Responding to Hurricane Helene Devastation with $50,000 in Critical Relief Aid

The storm left widespread devastation across Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and beyond, with the death toll rising to 227 and a significant number of people still unaccounted for.   In response to the urgent need for assistance, National Philoptochos has committed $25,000 to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and an additional $25,000 to Samaritan's Purse to support their ongoing recovery efforts. Weekly Bulletin for October 6, 2024 View our upcoming services & events  here  which can  also be viewed in the Breezeway!  GOYA Meeting 6pm Sunday - more info! ***With respect to Hurricane Relief efforts, please be advised that a  strategic plan is being devised by our Holy Metropolis under the auspices of the NE Conference which is led by our vicar, Father Sarantis .  This plan will be disseminated  shortly.  In the meantime our ladies Philoptochos will be passing a special tray on Sunday to help those affected. Please consider bringing extra money or a check for the tray. Donations can also be made via credit card.  We are also collecting the following items: diapers, premixed baby formula, adult’s diapers, toilet paper, Granola, powdered milk, shelf stable milk, canned tuna, chicken, baked beans, peanut butter, soups and fruit with pull tab lids, apple sauce cups, protein energy bars, trail mix and nuts, dried fruit, bottled water, Ga...
