In Regards to Holy Pentacost
- After His Resurrection, Jesus Christ remained with His disciples for forty days, appearing to them on different occasions. On the fortieth day, while blessing them, He ascended into heaven (Holy Ascension).
- Jesus Christ had promised His disciples that, after ascending into heaven, He would ask the Father to send down the Holy Spirit (Comforter) to guide the disciples into the "entire truth" (John 16:13). This descent of the Holy Spirit is commemorated on Holy Pentecost. On that day, the Church celebrates Her foundation on Earth as the Body of Christ.
- Holy Pentecost is one of the 12 Great Dominical Feasts of the Church. It is also known as the Feast of the Holy Trinity, as it constitutes the third revelation of the Holy Trinity – the other two being the Baptism and the Transfiguration of Christ. It falls on the eighth Sunday after Pascha, the fiftieth day from the Glorious Resurrection of the Lord.
- Apostle Peter becomes the representative of the Apostles. In his first sermon, Peter encourages the crowds by saying "Repent and be Baptized". About 3,000 people were baptized on that Day, making up the first Church.
- Christians receive the Holy Spirit during the Mystery of Chrismation – we celebrate our personal Pentecost.
- The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church was established by the 12 Apostles of Christ. Their mission was to spread the Word of Christ and to make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and teaching them to observe His Commandments (Matthew 28:19-20).
