Other News and Updates


New Security System
This past month, we had a new security system installed at our parish to help protect our beloved parish.  On all the doors there is a new keypad to access the building. For now, the password will stay the same. However, in the future, all the codes will be changed. This system also extends to the hall where we have swapped out the locks for keypads. Please be patient with us as we learn how to use the new system and we thank you for your understanding as we work to better protect our parish.

With Lent around the corner we would like to inform you of our weekly service schedule starting March 7th.
Mondays - Great Compline
Wednesdays - Presanctified Liturgy
Please bring your favorite Lenten dish to share after services.
Thursdays - Paraklisis to the Theotokos
Fridays - Salutations
All Services start at 6PM

Confessions can be scheduled by
calling Fr. George or Fr. Costa

Annunciation Christian Academy News

Annunciation Christian Academy would like to say thank you to our generous donors for their support!  Each of these individuals donated $1,000 to our preschool in a time of need.  Thank you Konstantinos Kazakos, Tasios Kazakos, Jim Tasios, Chris Katsidas and George Tsakas.  ACA will be forever grateful for your contributions to keep our children attending a preschool at a place we call home.

March 6, 2022 / 6:00 PM - after the Service in the Breezeway
Please join us around the table for our last meal before we begin our spiritual journey to Great Lent.
The custom on Cheesefare Sunday is to eat dairy foods, like milk, yogurt, and of course cheese!

  Nicholas Thomas Mathes  March 1, 1934 - June 14, 2024 It is with sadness, but with hope in the Resurrection, that we inform you that our beloved brother in Christ, Nicholas Thomas Mathes "Nick", 90, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully in his home on June 14 surrounded by his family's love. Nick was born March 1, 1934 in Klapsi, Greece  to Thomas Nicholas  & Fotini Hamberis Mathes.  His early years were spent in his beloved village of Klapsi, where he expressed his adventurous and mischievous spirit accompanied by his equally mischievous friends, many of whom he remained close to until the end. During the Greek Civil War, Nick was separated from his family fleeing a siege in Karpenisi.  His family frantically searched for him, fearing he'd been captured by the Communist Party.  Fortunately, Nick had fallen into the Greek Nationalist Camp & was safely returned to his family after 3 terrifying days. Falling Asleep of Fotini Bobocharis

Fotini Bobocharis March 27, 1929 -  July 25, 2024 It is with sadness, but with hope in the Resurrection, that we inform you that our beloved sister in Christ, Fotini Demetrios Bobocharis, 95, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after many visits with family and friends.  Fotini was born on March 27, 1929, in Karpenisi, Evrytania, Greece to the late Demetrios Bobocharis and Artemisia Chamis. She grew up in Karpenisi, Greece where her parents owned the town’s successful bakery. Fotini survived two wars while living in Greece, but she persevered and came to the United States with her sister Marika in 1955 to begin a new life filled with opportunities that the U.S. could give them. Fotini was a proud Greek woman, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. The entire Greek community was her family.    Fotini was a lifelong devoted member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was...
