Sayings of St. PAISIOS of the Mount Athos (Holy Mountain)

One day, St. Paisios said, I was digging in my garden in order to plant some tomato seeds. Someone stopped by and asked me, "What are you doing, Elder?"

"What do you think I am doing?  I am confessing my garden."

"Okay, Elder," he says to me, "even your garden needs confession?"

"Indeed, it needs confession. I have determined that, when I confess my garden, in other words, when I remove from it the rocks, the weeds, the thorns, etc., then it is able to produce a good crop; otherwise, the tomatoes turn out yellow and unripe!"
